O. Gordon Banks, CAE Gordon Banks was the Executive Director of the American Industrial Hygiene Association 1989-2001. During that period, AIHA moved from Akron, OH to Fairfax, VA and grew from a staff of 32 and budget of $4,000,000 to a staff of 62 and a budget of $13,000,000. Numerous new programs and services were instituted and thrived including federal and state government affairs, public relations, a monthly magazine, and distance learning courses. The Annual Conference drew 9,000 and included a trade show of 80,000 net square feet. Gordon has held top level executive experience with four associations. He has served both trade and professional associations with distinction. He is a Certified Association Executive. Gordon is past president of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, a former member of their Board, and was the 1981 winner of the Key Award, ASAE’s highest honor. He served as chairman of the ASAE Foundation. Gordon was also chairman of the Northeast Board of Regents for the Institutes for Organization Management. He is a member and has served on the Board of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE). His volunteer service includes serving on the Association Committee of One Hundred of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. Gordon served in the U.S. Navy in submarines and retired from the Reserves as a Captain. He resides in Vienna, VA with his wife, Pat. |
